The utopia of a paperless office?

„In the future, utopias have to hurry if they do not want to be overtaken by reality.“

(Wernher von Braun)

We see it as our mission to free companies from paper and to assist them in the implementation and introduction of paperless processes. We achieve this, among other things by our four key business segments:

  • Digitization of paper documents (Scan Service)
  • Manual and software-based data capture (OCR, OMR, ICR)
  • Provision of information in digital archives and DMS systems
  • Development of innovative document workflow for the implementation of digital business processes

We would, inter alia, by the banishment of paper documents from business

  • create a more pleasant working environment for all involved
  • enable a more efficient operation in all divisions
  • reduce costs (for example, printing costs, long distances, etc.)
  • protect the environment
  • enable our customers to focus on their core business

Our goal: companies that can operate completely paperless using DOCUBYTE and thereby achieve a perfect information management and to an absolutely new level of efficiency – and therefore the competition are miles ahead!

DOCUBYTE Scan-Services

The combination of the three central services of DOCUBYTE produces the actual value for our customers: sustained digitization solutions.

The development of DOCUBYTE over time

From data collection to scanning service provider to software development

2002 The company was founded in 2002 as a DigiTexx GbR by Holger Martens and Frank Schellenberg. At the beginning – in the wake of the New Economy – the focus was on acquisition of analog data. The main business partners were primarily libraries, publishers and large enterprises.

2005 After three years, the first document scanner is purchased, thereby expanding the range of services. Based on the Raster Images produced it is now possible in addition to manual data entry also employ software systems for semi-automatic detection of text content and to significantly increase in this way both efficiency and quality.

2007 Because of the conclusion of several large scanning projects, production will be expanded and the first high-volume scanner for digitizing large page numbers to be purchased. We already begin in 2007 with the scanning of business documents in color and are so many competitors time ahead.

2008 DOCUframe is introduced as a central DMS. The platform will initially be used for the optimization of internal processes and for controlling the scanning production. In order to provide future customers and its own employees an optimal work environment created a separate department for software development.

2009 The company will be renamed and called himself DOCUBYTE PAPER RELEASED. The new company name is intended to express that the range of services no longer restricted to the digital text capture (DigiTexx). The focus is rather on the transformation of documents of all stripes in bytes (one byte is the amount of bits needed to encode a single character). The new claim PAPER RELEASED should also show that it not only involves the digitization process itself, but also in particular to the effective work with digital documents in companies. This primarily includes the areas of digital archiving and document management.

2010 Because the existing computing capacity for the processing of color scanning, handling modern OCR systems and managing the ever-growing databases are no longer sufficient, DOCUBYTE begins to build up an own datacenter. The computing and storage capacity will be expanded continuously in the following years.

2011 The DOCUBYTE online archive is introduced to meet new customer requirements in terms of cloud computing. In addition, it is decided in powerful software systems for handwriting recognition and forms of investing. A new platform for automated acquisition of questionnaires, invoices and other documents will be successfully implemented.

2013 DOCUBYTE lands on rank 48 in the Deloitte Technology Fast Fifty Awards 2013. We continue our steady growth continued unabated and are located among the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Germany. That same year, the administration is removed from the production environment and settled on additional office space. A large demonstration room for counseling sessions and meetings will be set up. The land released in the production are used to extend the book scanning department.
